Contradiction with Exodus 28:1
It contradicts as Exodus 28:1 specifies priests only from Aaron and his sons, whereas 1 Chronicles 24:13 includes a broader range of priestly orders outside of Aaron’s direct lineage.
Exodus 28:1: And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, [even] Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.
Contradiction with Numbers 3:10
Numbers 3:10 gives priestly duties strictly to Aaron and his descendants, contrasting with 1 Chronicles 24:13's mention of varied priestly divisions.
Numbers 3:10: And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Contradiction with Hebrews 7:11-12
This verse discusses changing of the priesthood and law with Christ, contrasting the Old Testament priestly divisions like those in 1 Chronicles 24:13.
Hebrews 7:11-12: If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need [was there] that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Contradiction with 2 Chronicles 13:9
Here it states that only Aaron’s descendants can be priests, which is in tension with the wider distribution of priestly families noted in 1 Chronicles 24:13.
2 Chronicles 13:9: Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of [other] lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, [the same] may be a priest of [them that are] no gods. [to consecrate...: Heb. to fill his hand]
