Contradiction with Jeremiah 29:11
1 Kings 14:14 speaks of God raising a king to cut off the house of Jeroboam, indicating destruction. Jeremiah 29:11 promises plans to prosper and not to harm.
Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. [expected...: Heb. end and expectation]
Paradox #1
This verse could bring up a contradiction about the fairness of punishment. It might seem unfair to some that a whole family or community could suffer because of one person's actions, raising questions about collective punishment and individual responsibility.
