According to the author of Chronicles, Shaphan took a special book to the king and told him that all the important tasks the king asked the servants to do were being done well. This shows that people were doing their jobs and being responsible.
2 Chronicles 34:16: And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do [it]. [to thy...: Heb. to the hand of, etc]
2 Kings 22:8 states that Hilkiah the high priest found the book of the law, contradicting 2 Chronicles 34:16 where Shaphan is the one to bring it to the king.
2 Kings 22:8: And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
