According to the author of 2 Chronicles, King Solomon used special wood to make pretty stairs and musical instruments for God’s house and his palace, which amazed everyone because nothing like them had been seen before in Judah. This shows how much he wanted to beautify places for worship and praise.
2 Chronicles 9:11: And the king made [of] the algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah. [terraces: or, stairs: Heb. highways]
In 1 Kings 10:12, the description of the almug trees and their use in building instruments and supports for the Temple is similar but subtly different in the construction details compared to 2 Chronicles 9:11.
1 Kings 10:12: And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day. [pillars: or, rails: Heb. a prop]
