Contradiction with Exodus 15:26
Promises health to those who follow God’s commandments, which contradicts the affliction of Azariah despite his reign being otherwise prosperous.
Exodus 15:26: And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I [am] the LORD that healeth thee.
Contradiction with Deuteronomy 28:27
Lists leprosy as a curse for disobedience, yet 2 Kings 15:5 mentions Azariah was punished despite being a generally righteous king.
Deuteronomy 28:27: The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
Contradiction with Job 1:1
Describes Job as a blameless man who suffered despite his faith, similar to Azariah's situation but unrelated to personal wrongdoing.
Job 1:1: There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name [was] Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
Paradox #1
The contradiction could be the depiction of divine punishment, where a king is punished with leprosy. This might conflict with modern views on fairness and justice, where disease is not seen as a form of divine retribution but rather a health issue.
