Contradiction with Genesis 1:9
While 2 Samuel 22:16 describes the rebuking and uncovering of the earth's foundations during a time of distress, Genesis 1:9 describes the purposeful gathering of waters and appearing of dry land as part of the peaceful creation process.
Genesis 1:9: And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry [land] appear: and it was so.
Contradiction with Jeremiah 5:22
2 Samuel 22:16 speaks of the waters being rebuked and the foundations laid bare, whereas Jeremiah 5:22 depicts God establishing the sea's boundary with the everlasting decree that the waves cannot pass.
Jeremiah 5:22: Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand [for] the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
Contradiction with Psalm 104:9
Contrasts with 2 Samuel 22:16, where waters are rebuked to reveal the earth’s foundations, as Psalm 104:9 speaks of God setting a boundary so the waters may never again cover the earth.
Psalm 104:9: Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
