According to the author of 2 Samuel, this verse tells us that people traveled to different important cities, including strong places and places where different groups lived, like the Hivites and Canaanites. It shows us how far and wide they went on their journey, all the way to a place called Beersheba.
2 Samuel 24:7: And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, [even] to Beersheba.
This verse presents a different total number of fighting men from Israel compared to 2 Samuel 24:7.
1 Chronicles 21:5: And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all [they of] Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah [was] four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.
