Contradiction with Jeremiah 7:27
This verse says that people will not listen to the prophet, contrary to Ezekiel 2:5 which acknowledges that they may realize a prophet has been among them.
Jeremiah 7:27: Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.
Contradiction with Ezekiel 3:7
This states that the house of Israel will not hearken to Ezekiel, contradicting Ezekiel 2:5's implication that they may acknowledge his prophetic role.
Ezekiel 3:7: But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel [are] impudent and hardhearted. [impudent...: Heb. stiff of forehead, and hard of heart]
Contradiction with Matthew 13:57
In this verse, Jesus mentions that a prophet is without honor in his own country, contrasting with Ezekiel 2:5's suggestion that recognition of a prophet is possible.
Matthew 13:57: And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
Paradox #1
The potential contradiction in Ezekiel 2:5 could be about accepting a prophet's message even when people choose not to listen or believe. It raises the question of why a message should be delivered if people are not open to receiving it, and whether it is fair to hold people accountable if they do not understand or accept the message. This can create tension between free will and responsibility.
