Contradiction with Genesis 6:13
While Genesis 19:12 involves a warning for Lot to escape with his family, Genesis 6:13 tells of God deciding to destroy all flesh, offering no escape.
Genesis 6:13: And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. [with the earth: or, from the earth]
Contradiction with Luke 17:29
Genesis 19:12 gives a warning allowing escape, whereas Luke 17:29 describes the destruction of Sodom happening suddenly.
Luke 17:29: But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all.
Contradiction with Matthew 24:39
In Matthew 24:39, the people were unaware of their impending destruction, contrasting with the warning given to Lot in Genesis 19:12.
Matthew 24:39: And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Contradiction with Jeremiah 18:7-8
Here, God speaks of relenting destruction if people turn from evil, which contradicts the inevitable destruction of Sodom in Genesis 19:12.
Jeremiah 18:7-8: [At what] instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy [it];
Contradiction with Ezekiel 33:11
This verse expresses God’s desire for the wicked to turn from their ways and live, whereas Genesis 19:12 involves no such condition for Sodom.
Ezekiel 33:11: Say unto them, [As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Paradox #1
Genesis 19:12 discusses the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the angels warning Lot to save his family. A possible contradiction here could be the idea of punishing an entire city, which includes innocent people, for the sins of some. This raises questions about collective punishment and whether it aligns with the concept of just and fair treatment.
