Contradiction with Genesis 1:5
Genesis 1:5 describes "the first day" without mentioning the sun, moon, or stars, which are needed for lights in the firmament as described in Genesis 1:15.
Genesis 1:5: And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. [And the evening...: Heb. And the evening was, and the morning was etc.]
Contradiction with Genesis 1:16-19
Genesis 1:16-19 explains the creation of the sun and the moon on the fourth day, which contradicts the implication of the presence of light before these sources in Genesis 1:15.
Genesis 1:16-19: And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also. [to rule the day...: Heb. for the rule of the day, etc.]
Contradiction with Genesis 2:5
Genesis 2:5 implies there is no vegetation before the creation of man, contrasting with Genesis 1:15 where light in the firmament is created for days and plant growth.
Genesis 2:5: And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.
