According to Moses, Adam saw the woman and was happy because she was made from the same stuff he was. He called her "Woman" because she was taken from him, so they were like a special team together.
Genesis 2:23: And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. [Woman: Heb. Isha] [Man: Heb. Ish]
This verse states that God created both male and female simultaneously, whereas Genesis 2:23 suggests the woman was created after the man.
Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
