Contradiction with Genesis 39:1
This verse states that Joseph was sold to Potiphar by the Ishmeelites, not the Midianites as suggested in Genesis 37:36.
Genesis 39:1: And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
Contradiction with Genesis 37:28
This verse indicates that it was the Midianite merchants who sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites, creating confusion with who actually sold Joseph to Egypt.
Genesis 37:28: Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty [pieces] of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
Contradiction with Genesis 45:4
Joseph, while addressing his brothers, says it was they who sold him, not the Midianites, contradicting Genesis 37:36.
Genesis 45:4: And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I [am] Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
Contradiction with Acts 7:9
Stephen mentions that the patriarchs sold Joseph into Egypt, differing from the account of the Midianites handling the sale.
