Contradiction with Genesis 37:34
While Genesis 44:13 describes the brothers tearing their clothes in response to fearing for Benjamin, Genesis 37:34 describes Jacob tearing his clothes for mourning over Joseph's presumed death.
Genesis 37:34: And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
Contradiction with 1 Samuel 16:6-7
Genesis 44:13 involves outward actions (tearing clothes) to express distress, while in 1 Samuel 16:6-7, God instructs Samuel to look beyond outward appearances and to see the heart.
1 Samuel 16:6-7: And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed [is] before him. [Eliab: called Elihu]
Contradiction with Matthew 6:16
Genesis 44:13 shows physical expression of anguish, whereas Matthew 6:16 warns against displaying outward signs of distress to gain human approval or sympathy.
Matthew 6:16: Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Contradiction with James 1:2
In contrast to the despair shown in Genesis 44:13, James 1:2 calls for finding joy in trials, not expressions of distress.
