According to the author of Genesis, this verse tells us that Noah was 600 years old when God sent a big flood to cover the earth. It shows us that Noah lived a very long time, just like people did a long time ago in Bible stories.

Genesis 7:6: And Noah [was] six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
