Contradiction with Proverbs 3:10
Proverbs 3:10 speaks of barns being filled with plenty, in contrast to Jeremiah 13:13 which foretells vessels being filled with drunkenness and destruction.
Proverbs 3:10: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Contradiction with Psalm 23:5
Psalm 23:5 mentions a cup that overflows with blessings, whereas Jeremiah 13:13 refers to cups filled with drunkenness leading to calamity.
Psalm 23:5: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. [anointest: Heb. makest fat]
Paradox #1
Jeremiah 13:13 suggests that the people will be filled with drunkenness as a metaphor for God's judgment. The contradiction might arise from the use of intoxication, generally seen as negative, being associated with divine will. It contrasts the idea of divine actions being ultimately good with the negative depiction of being drunk.
