Jeremiah 29:7 encourages people to seek the well-being of the city they live in, even if they are in exile. The potential contradiction arises if someone believes they should not support a place that doesn't align with their personal or religious values. There can be a conflict between the idea of working for the good of a city that might be seen as opposing one's beliefs and the instruction to promote peace and prosperity wherever one lives.
