Contradiction with Jeremiah 21:7
Contradicts Jeremiah 34:3 as it predicts that Zedekiah will be given into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar and slain, rather than dying in peace.
Jeremiah 21:7: And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.
Contradiction with Jeremiah 32:4-5
Predicts no escape for Zedekiah, contradicting the notion in Jeremiah 34:3 that he might see Nebuchadnezzar face to face.
Jeremiah 32:4-5: And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;
Paradox #1
Jeremiah 34:3 can appear contradictory if compared with Jeremiah 52:10-11. In Jeremiah 34:3, it seems to indicate that King Zedekiah would see the king of Babylon. However, in Jeremiah 52:11, Zedekiah is captured, blinded, and taken to Babylon, suggesting he wouldn't "see" the king due to his blindness. The potential conflict arises over the interpretation of "seeing"—whether it means a literal or figurative encounter.
