Contradiction with Jeremiah 42:10
God promises safety if the people remain in the land, contradicting their decision to leave for Egypt in Jeremiah 43:5.
Jeremiah 42:10: If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull [you] down, and I will plant you, and not pluck [you] up: for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.
Contradiction with Jeremiah 42:13-14
God warns against going to Egypt for refuge, yet in Jeremiah 43:5, the people head to Egypt, defying this warning.
Jeremiah 42:13-14: But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the LORD your God,
Contradiction with Jeremiah 44:12
God declares that those who go to Egypt for safety will face destruction, contrary to the people's action in Jeremiah 43:5.
Jeremiah 44:12: And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, [and] fall in the land of Egypt; they shall [even] be consumed by the sword [and] by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, [and] an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.
Contradiction with Deuteronomy 17:16
God commands not to return to Egypt, which contradicts the action of going to Egypt in Jeremiah 43:5.
Deuteronomy 17:16: But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.
