Contradiction with Judges 1:19
While Joshua 11:8 describes total victory, Judges 1:19 highlights failure as Judah could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley because they had iron chariots.
Judges 1:19: And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out [the inhabitants of] the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. [drave...: or, possessed the mountain]
Contradiction with Judges 2:3
Contradicts Joshua 11:8 by stating that God would no longer drive out the enemies completely, leading to ongoing struggles for Israel.
Judges 2:3: Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be [as thorns] in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.
Paradox #1
The contradiction or conflict with this verse could arise from the issue of violence and war. It describes a battle where people are defeated and killed, which can conflict with the values of peace, compassion, and the sanctity of life in other parts of religious and moral teachings. This raises questions about the morality of war and violence.
