According to the author of Judges, God was very upset with the Israelites because they weren’t listening to Him, so He let a king named Chushanrishathaim rule over them for eight years. This was meant to help them realize they needed to follow God more closely.
Judges 3:8: Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years. [Mesopotamia: Heb. Aramnaharaim]
This verse could be seen as morally conflicting because it suggests that God, who is typically seen as loving and forgiving, also allows or causes suffering or punishment to happen. This can seem inconsistent with the idea of a benevolent deity.
