According to Moses, when someone does something wrong, the priest can help make it right with God, so the person is forgiven. Part of what is offered to God is shared with the priest as a special gift.
Leviticus 5:13: And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him: and [the remnant] shall be the priest's, as a meat offering.
This verse states that it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins, contradicting Leviticus 5:13, which describes animal sacrifices as a means for atonement and forgiveness.
Hebrews 10:4: For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
