Contradiction with Genesis 1:31
Matthew 17:1 describes a specific event in Jesus' ministry; Genesis 1:31, however, refers to God's completion and satisfaction with creation, which is unrelated to the described event.
Genesis 1:31: And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. [And the evening...: Heb. And the evening was, and the morning was etc.]
Contradiction with John 1:14
Matthew 17:1 shows Jesus taking three disciples to witness the Transfiguration, whereas John 1:14 speaks in general terms about the Word becoming flesh, without any specific disciples mentioned.
John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Contradiction with Acts 1:9-11
Matthew 17:1 occurs before the resurrection, whereas Acts 1:9-11 describes the Ascension, a separate event after Jesus' resurrection.
Acts 1:9-11: And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Contradiction with Exodus 3:2
Matthew 17:1 depicts a New Testament vision, while Exodus 3:2 involves an Old Testament burning bush scene, with no direct connection between the two.
Exodus 3:2: And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed.
Contradiction with Luke 23:46
Matthew 17:1 occurs during Jesus' ministry, while Luke 23:46 describes his death, which happens much later in the Gospel narrative.
Luke 23:46: And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
