Contradiction with John 20:29
This verse highlights that those who have not seen and yet believe are blessed, whereas Matthew 28:17 mentions some of the disciples doubted even when they saw.
John 20:29: Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.
Contradiction with Mark 16:11
This verse describes that the disciples did not believe when they heard he was alive and seen, contrasting with the belief of some in Matthew 28:17.
Mark 16:11: And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.
Contradiction with Luke 24:11
Here, the words of the women who saw Jesus were seen as idle tales and not believed, contrary to the worship given by others in Matthew 28:17.
Luke 24:11: And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
Paradox #1
Some people note a contradiction in this verse because it describes some of Jesus' disciples doubting even though they were seeing him after his resurrection. The inconsistency arises because earlier parts of the Bible describe the disciples as having witnessed miraculous events and believing in Jesus. The idea that they would still have doubts at this point seems contradictory to some readers.
