Contradiction with Exodus 33:1-2
This verse promises God would drive out the inhabitants of the land, whereas Numbers 13:31 expresses doubt that they could conquer the land, contradicting the assurance of God's support.
Exodus 33:1-2: And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, [and] go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
Contradiction with Deuteronomy 1:30
This verse states the Lord fights for the Israelites, in contrast to Numbers 13:31, where the spies express their inability to prevail, lacking faith in divine aid.
Deuteronomy 1:30: The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
Contradiction with Joshua 1:5
Here, it is promised that no man would be able to stand against the Israelites, while in Numbers 13:31, the spies imply the Canaanites are unbeatable.
Joshua 1:5: There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Contradiction with Joshua 14:8
This verse shows Caleb fully trusting the Lord to deliver the land, which contradicts Numbers 13:31, where the other spies doubt their ability to take the land.
Joshua 14:8: Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
Contradiction with Numbers 14:8-9
Joshua and Caleb express confidence that with the Lord, they can defeat the Canaanites, opposing the disbelief shown in Numbers 13:31.
Numbers 14:8-9: If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
Paradox #1
The potential contradiction in that verse could be the claim about the inhabitants of the land being giants. Scientifically, there is no evidence of humans of giant stature that matches the description often associated with this and similar passages. Our understanding of human biology and historical anthropology does not support the existence of giants as described.
Paradox #2
Numbers 13:31 could showcase a moral conflict by highlighting themes of fear and doubt versus faith and trust. The verse shows a lack of confidence and fear among the people, which conflicts with the idea of having faith and trusting in divine guidance. This presents a contradiction between human emotion and spiritual belief.
