Contradiction with Deuteronomy 23:7
Edomites should not be abhorred, contradicting Edom's refusal in Numbers 20:21.

Contradiction with Matthew 5:44

Matthew 5:44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Contradiction with Romans 12:20
Feed and give drink to your enemy, contradicting Edom's refusal to allow passage in Numbers 20:21.
Romans 12:20: Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Paradox #1
Numbers 20:21 may seem inconsistent with other passages because, in other parts of the Bible, the Israelites are able to pass through the lands of other nations after negotiation or divine intervention. However, in this verse, Edom denies passage and the Israelites have to detour. This could seem contradictory to the theme of divine support and the success of their journey in other contexts.
Paradox #2
The moral conflict in this verse may arise from the denial of passage and resulting hostility, which contrasts with themes of hospitality and assistance to those in need. This raises questions about how to balance self-preservation with helping others.
