Contradiction with Deuteronomy 32:51
The verse discusses Moses' disobedience in striking the rock instead of speaking to it, contrasting the positive event of the well springing forth in Numbers 21:17.
Deuteronomy 32:51: Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel. [Meribah-Kadesh: or, strife at Kadesh]
Contradiction with Numbers 20:11-12
This passage shows the earlier event where water came from a rock because of Moses’ disobedience, unlike the joyful song for the springing well in Numbers 21:17.
Numbers 20:11-12: And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts [also].
