According to Zephaniah, God will show His great power to everyone and get rid of all the pretend gods. Then, people everywhere will turn to worship Him because He is the true God.
Zephaniah 2:11: The LORD [will be] terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and [men] shall worship him, every one from his place, [even] all the isles of the heathen. [famish: Heb. make lean]
Zephaniah 2:11 talks about God reducing the power of other gods, leading people to worship only Him. The contradiction might be seen in how a loving and just God would let ignorance exist in the first place if all people are meant to worship Him. It raises questions about free will versus divine intervention in guiding belief.
